This award is for a new business, started since 1st January 2009, that has made a significant contribution to the Highlands and Islands food and drink economy. You may be a producer, a retailer or foodservice outlet displaying excellence in the use of local food and drink products or a service provider contributing significantly to the success of the sector.

What Judges will be looking for:

New businesses or organisations that can demonstrate both initial market success with a product / range or service and which the judges feel has great potential to further contribute to the local food and drink economy, or further enhance the perception of Highlands and Islands food and drink. The new business will also be assessed for staff training, innovation, meeting market need, ongoing business potential and overall business identity (packaging, placement, marketing materials etc as relevant).

Documentation required:

• Describe how and why your new business was established, your business activity, and explain why you should win this award (one side of A4 maximum).
• Evidence of initial market success (e.g. launch activity, listings, media coverage) and proof of ongoing potential (e.g. orders, market research, awards, business plan). 3 pages of A4 maximum.
• A maximum of 4 pages of A4 may be submitted as supporting documentation.
